She says most of the stuff used in easter baskets goes in the garbage, including baskets, plastic grass, plastic eggs, foil and cellophane.
Now that the Easter bunny has hopped away, people are probably wondering what to do with the plastic, cardboard and tinfoil that wraps those tiny chocolate eggs. Lynn Howse is with Western Regional Waste Management and a regular guest on Bayfm’s Trash Talk. She says most of the stuff used in easter baskets goes in the garbage, including baskets, plastic grass, plastic eggs, foil and cellophane. Howse says when it comes to Easter toys, all of that goes into the garbage also.
She says plastic containers with a triangle and the numbers 1,2, or 5 can be recycled and go in the blue bag. She says with wrapping paper, some is garbage while some can be recycled. Heavy craft paper with no foil in it can be recycled but inked paper goes in the garbage. When finished, tape dispensers go in the garbage. To find out more about recycling, download the wrwmnl app.
