This is National Volunteer Week, a time to recognize people who do so much for our communities. The theme this year is "Ignite Volunteerism." Bay of Islands Radio, which is now Bayfm, officially incorporated in October, 2011. Board chair Kody Gardner got involved in the early days back in 2012 and says volunteers were very important in the beginning to get the station started.
Gardner says although a radio station isn’t thought of as somewhere that needs volunteers, Bayfm is licensed as a community radio station and a non-profit organization. He says having volunteers involved is part of reflecting our community. Gardner says some of the most successful shows are run by volunteers, like Country Road and Sunday Night Geek.
