Mayor Jim Parsons says they might not get the new truck until 2027
It will be another few years before the Corner Brook Fire Departments gets a new ladder truck. The provincial government announced $1.5 million to go towards the purchase. At Monday night’s council meeting, a tender was approved with the lowest bidder at $2.5 million. Mayor Jim Parsons says they might not get the new truck until 2027. He says the ladder truck is a regional piece of equipment and is called out to help other communities. Parsons says they also recently rolled out a smoke alarm program and have received about 250 applications. Smoke alarms will be installed in homes built before 2000.
