While some harvesters are defying the union and heading out to fish anyway, the Mayor of Humber Arm South says she hasn’t heard of this happening along the south shore. Erica Humber-Shears says council has been meeting and speaking with a lot of residents who are very concerned and stressed about the situation. She says she doesn’t know if government can help but says something needs to happen. The Mayor says some sort of specialized program needs to be put in place to help plant workers.
