Housing Minister Fred Hutton says Budget 2024 included $20 million to construct new homes in the area that are modern and energy efficient, with universal design features incorporated throughout.
Some old and run down housing units in Corner Brook will soon be torn down to make way for new affordable, modern, one and two bedroom units. 32 units in four buildings on Crestview Avenue will be replaced by 50 new provincially-owned homes. Housing Minister Fred Hutton says Budget 2024 included $20 million to construct new homes in the area that are modern and energy efficient, with universal design features incorporated throughout. The funding will cover construction of 104 units across NL and 50 of those will be in Corner Brook. Hutton says abatement of the old structures has been ongoing and these units are ready to come down. The project will be a design build and will also include accessible units. Hutton says the hope is to have them ready to move into next year.
