There is a serious daycare space shortage.
Opposition education critic Barry Petten is calling on government to do something about the lack of child care spaces throughout the province. Yesterday, he sent out a news release after hearing of people sub-letting their daycare spaces, since they would be off work over the summer. Petten says we are the second worst province in the country for childcare spaces. He says both governments needs to get together and find a solution. Petten says he’s doubtful a fast solution is possible, but the private sector needs to be included. He says daycare centres here have waitlists with thousands of names.
