Premier Furey says that work is ongoing and they’re working with stakeholders for an enforcement policy because right now, it’s up to each school.

Premier Andrew Furey says government is working closely with the NLTA to develop a policy around cell phone use in classrooms. Some provinces have banned the use of cellphones in classrooms and NL currently has a policy that bans them in grades K-6. NLTA President Trent Langdon has called for a policy designed so that teachers can enforce it. Premier Furey says that work is ongoing and they’re working with stakeholders for an enforcement policy because right now, it’s up to each school. Furey says they’re hearing good feedback from students, parents, and teachers.
