Government is reviewing a plan to extend harvest areas on the Northern Peninsula in response to the Spruce Budworm outbreak. The undertaking was registered last week by the Department of Forestry, Agriculture and Lands. The zone extends from Gros Morne National Park in the south to St. Anthony in the north. The amendment is necessary to salvage silviculture treated stands. The deadline for public comment is May 22nd and the minister’s decision is due by May 31st.
