Seven west coast communities are among 58 in NL to get funding through the Community Wildfire Prevention and Mitigation Program. This round of funding will help communities reduce the risk of wildfire and better protect homes, critical infrastructure, and the environment around them. Corner Brook, Gillams, Steady Brook, Pasadena, Deer Lake, Stephenville and Port au Port East are some of the communities that made the list to share slightly over $2.2M. Recommendations were based on whether the proposed activity qualified for funding, the quality of the application, and the value to reduce the risk of wildfire for that area.
