Here’s something for that sweet tooth….The third annual Bay of Islands Maple Festival gets underway tomorrow. It all starts at 11.m. and later attendees will follow the Corner Brook Trail System to tap some maple. Adriann Reid is a forager/farmer and will lead a session on Winter Tree Identification at Margaret Bowater. He says there will be more workshops throughout the day.
The cost to attend Saturday is $15 but on Sunday, there will be a free public event on Sunday starting 11am at Margaret Bowater Park where the boiling of sap begins. Reid says it’s easy to do but you need a lot of sap to make syrup.
Sunday will also include musical entertainment with Maple treats to enjoy. For more information go to the Bay of Islands Maple Festival facebook page.
