Cliff Small says a redfish quota was due to be announced many months ago.
Fisheries critic Cliff Small wants to know why it’s taking so long for DFO to release catch quotas. He says since 2015, the employees at DFO have increased from 10,000 to 15,000. Small says the redfish quota was supposed to be announced many months ago. He says members of the fishing industry are constantly contacting him because it’s a serious situation with the redfish eating a lot of shrimp. Small says they’re waiting on several more DFO announcements while harvesters remain in limbo. He says since 2015, DFO has also seen an increase of 5 billion dollars in their budget. He says timely announcements shouldn’t be too much to ask.
