Last December, Craig Pardy gave a projection that the deficit was now up to $948M and says this will be addressed in the budget.

The provincial budget will be delivered on April 29th. Finance Minister Craig Pardy took questions from the media yesterday in St. John’s. He was tight lipped about spending but committed to carrying out much of what was in the Wakeham election platform, things like the cost of living and housing but how much will be determined.

Pardy says putting money into peoples’ pockets will be monitored with the situation surrounding the price of oil. He says while there was optimism of a ceasefire in Iran, things changed within 24 hours. Pardy would not share an oil price projection but says it will be announced next week. Last December, Pardy gave a projection that the deficit was now up to $948M and says this will be addressed in the budget but as a government, they have planning to do to reduce spending.  He will deliver the Budget speech next Wednesday at 2 p.m. and it will be broadcast on the House of Assembly website and YouTube channel.
