Federal Conservative Leader Pierre Pollievre says fish harvesters and plant workers are suffering.
Pollievre is in the Bay of Islands area talking with people today. He says we need to keep jobs here.
Poillevre says Japan is buying discounted Russian sea products dumped onto the global market. He wants them to be sanctioned. Poillevre says he would agree to Japan’s demand for us to sell them natural gas, in order to break their dependency on Russia. In exchange, he would demand the Japanese buy our snow crab.
Pollievre also says $2.20 per lb is not enough for crab harvesters and the federal government needs to step in.
Pierre Pollievre will have an open meet and greet this evening in Corner Brook. It gets underway 7 pm at the Civic Centre.
