Teams coming to Deer Lake and Stephenville this year.
Health Minister Tom Osborne says everyone in this province who needs it will have access to a Family Care Team within the next 5 years. He says there are teams in various stages of development at 8 locations, and will expand to 11 more this year, which will include Deer Lake and Stephenville. Minister Osborne says these teams will provide an array of health care, including a doctor, nurse practitioner, nurse, social worker and more. Meanwhile, some communities, like Humber Arm South, say 50 percent of residents do not have a family doctor. Minister Osborne says approved sites are determined by information they receive through Patient Connect. The Health Minister says everything is on track for the new hospital in Corner Brook to have the keys by this fall. The $750 million new hospital is expected to be the largest capital investment in the region’s history.
