Up to $100,000 for nurse practitioners to come home to work.
Government is sweetening the offer for nurse practitioners to sign on at Family Care teams and rural emergency departments. Health Minister Tom Osborne announced incentives based on geographic location. Rural areas will get $40,000 for 12 months return in service, that is also renewable for another year. Emergency trained nurse practitioners will get another $10,000 a year.Minister Osborne says this is on top of the Come Home Incentive for health care workers, which is $60,000. There are nine Family Care Teams in various stages of implementation throughout the province, including one in Stephenville. A team is being developed over the next year for the Deer Lake-White Bay area.
