Charlene Johnson says with just an exploration well next year, it can man upwards of 400 jobs in this province.
The CEO of EnergyNL is very optimistic in light of an announcement yesterday from Equinor concerning drilling in the Bay du Nord area. The company announced they would be bringing in the Hercules rig to do some drilling next year near Bay du Nord with the option of drilling a second well. Equinor announced in late May during the Energy N.L. Conference and Exhibition in St. John's, that they were shelving the Bay du Nord project for up to 3 years. Charlene Johnson says this emphasizes Equinor’s commitment to the region. She says they’ve been meeting with Equinor since June. Johnson says with just an exploration well next year, it can man upwards of 400 jobs in this province.
