59-year-old Lawrence Clarke has been charged with causing a disturbance, assaulting a police officer, resisting arrest, uttering threats and failing to comply with a condition of a release order.
A Corner Brook man is facing charges after a disturbance at the CIBC bank in Lewisporte that occurred on December 18th. 59-year-old Lawrence Clarke of Corner Brook was arrested by Lewisporte RCMP and is charged with a number of criminal offences, including assaulting a police officer. Cpl Jolene Garland says shortly before 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, police were called to the bank. Upon arrival, officers confirmed that Clarke had been banned from the property and was refusing to leave. As officers attempted to escort Clarke from the bank, he became aggressive, assaulted one officer, threatened another and resisted arrest. He was taken into police custody without further incident. Clarke has been charged with causing a disturbance, assaulting a police officer, resisting arrest, uttering threats and failing to comply with a condition of a release order. He attended court on December 19th, and was released on a number of conditions. Clarke’s next court appearance in relation to these charges is set for January 21st.
