The city of Corner Brook is embarking on a Feasibility Study to evaluate the establishment of a community market space. It aims to provide a vibrant venue that supports local commerce, community engagement, and cultural events. At Monday night’s public meeting, Councillor Bill Griffin says there are a number of objectives. Examine current market needs and gaps that a new community market could address. Analyze how other municipalities have successfully implemented similar venues. Collaborate with local stakeholders such as the Port Authority, local farmers, and current popup market organizers. Propose various operating models, including management structures and operational frameworks. Conduct a detailed financial analysis to estimate start-up costs, operational expenses, and potential revenue streams. Griffin says the project includes several other things like a green space integrated within the market area to provide vendors and community members with an outdoor area for relaxation and events. Design this space to host community events and enhance the market’s appeal. Community Room: o Include a flexible community room available for rental by local groups and organizations. Venue for Cruise Ship Events. Design the market space to function as a venue for special events, particularly when cruise ships are in port.
