September 30th is Truth and Reconciliation Day, a time to honour the children who never returned home and Survivors of residential schools, as well as their families and communities. People also wear orange on that day and each year, the Qalipu First Nations Band holds a contest for the shirt design. Band Manager Charles Pender says Kali Gill, a grade 9 student from Corner Brook Intermediate, was the winner and designed this year’s shirt. Shirts are available by calling Jason at 709-634-0411
