Winds were low at the Grand Codroy RV/Tent Camping Park at the time but 15 minutes away they were strong.
Bay St. George RCMP issued a warning for drivers yesterday afternoon with winds along the TCH in the wreckhouse area clocked at 120km/hr. This was especially important for those in large or commercial vehicles, including RVs and tractor trailers. Meanwhile, a picture posted on social media by the Grand Codroy RV/Tent Camping Park showed a pickup towing a camper that had slid off the road.
While it doesn’t appear that anyone was hurt, a spokesperson at the campground says they are a safe haven for travelers to stay and wait out the wind. The winds were low in the campground at the time but 15 minutes away they were strong. Guests with plans on leaving were stopped from leaving when they knew it wasn’t safe to travel. Ultimately, they make their own decisions but it comes with advice.
