Here’s something Corner Brook and the Bay of Islands can be proud about. The Bay of Islands Search and Rescue Group recently attended SarScene and walked away placing third in the Games event. Sarscene is the largest national search and rescue conference and expo, which features SAR professionals. Shawn Street is the coordinator with Bay of Islands Search and Rescue. He says they had a team of four compete and won the bronze and there were 16 different events. Street says the team was shocked especially since a lot of these teams are paid professionals and it shows their training is on par with the rest of Canada. About 500 people attended the event which was held in St.John’s.
