We are mourning the loss of a big part of our BayFM family. Larry Bennett of Stephenville passed away after a brief illness with his loving family by his side Tuesday night at Western Memorial Hospital. His obituary says “from a young age, he dreamt of working in radio, often imitating announcers and practicing his own broadcasts. That childhood dream became a lifetime vocation when he joined CFSX Radio as the morning show personality—a position he held with pride for 42 years."

BayFM Manager Lenny Benoit says it was Larry who trained him during his own start in radio, saying Larry was a fun guy who believed in community, family and everything he did, a true friend that will be missed.

Larry started a show back in the day called “Gold Rush” and for the past couple of years, he brought the show back on BayFM Saturday nights with thousands of listeners. Benoit says he pre-recorded shows will start tomorrow night at 9 o’clock and there’s no better way to pay tribute to him - he was an icon.

Larry leaves behind his wife Sharon, sons Jason and Zack and grandson Jacob. Following his wishes, cremation has taken place. Larry’s family will celebrate his life in the summer of 2026.
