Bay St. George RCMP investigating after a cat was found in West Bay with a gunshot wound

    On Monday, February 16th, police in Stephenville received a call from an animal rescue organization reporting that an orange cat was placed in their care after it was dropped off at a west coast veterinarian’s office and received preliminary treatment.

    Bay St. George RCMP is looking for anyone with information to come forward after getting a report of an abandoned cat with a gunshot wound.  The cat is currently receiving care and treatment for its injuries in St. John’s. On Monday, February 16th, police in Stephenville received a call from an animal rescue organization reporting that an orange cat was placed in their care after it was dropped off at a west coast veterinarian’s office and received preliminary treatment. The cat did not have a collar or other identification.

    The person who turned over the animal did not provide their information, but did report that the cat was found in the West Bay area. Police are urging the owner of the cat, the individual who brought the animal for care and anyone with information about this incident to contact Bay St. George RCMP at 709-643-2118.
