A dozen members of the Bay of Islands Search and Rescue team hit the ground early Monday morning in search of a couple of missing berry pickers. At about 2:30 Monday morning, 12 search and rescue volunteers got out of bed to look for a pair of lost berry pickers near Logger School Road, ,just west of Corner Brook. The members responded to the call and carried out a systematic search of roads using 4x4 trucks and ATVs. BOISAR members located the subjects in good health at approximately 8:30 a.m. and transported them back to the search base. The subjects had become separated from their vehicle and spent the night in the woods - thankfully with warm clothes and fire making supplies. Members then stood down to re-set and re-stock equipment in preparation for the next deployment. As we begin to make the transition from summer into berry picking and hunting season, BOISAR would like to remind everyone to make a trip plan, take the essentials, and ensure you are trained and prepared for your outdoor adventure!
