She showed up at the Bayfm studios on Monday wearing her viking attire gown with gauntlets, sword and dagger, and a money belt, because she says vikings love money.
A grade 3 student at C.C. Loughlin school was selected as the winner at the 20th Leifling Gala as part of Corner Brook Winter Carnival this past weekend. Alexis Whiteway and Leif the Lucky joined Bayfm’s Lenny Benoit during the civic holiday on Monday to talk about the win. She showed up wearing her viking attire gown with gauntlets, sword and dagger, and a money belt, because she says vikings love money. When she threw the gold coins on the floor it kept Leif busy so she was able to conquer him. This little viking says she’s looking forward to spending time on the Party bus.
The leifling becomes Leif the Lucky’s sidekick and attends as many carnival events as possible. Leif says 12 of the previous 19 leiflings were at the gala at Corner Brook Regional High the high on Sunday. Meanwhile, Leif says the kids are becoming more creative with their costumes and the ploys they use to challenge him. Eight young people competed for the Leifling title this past weekend.
