A ribbon cutting ceremony will get underway 10 o'clock this morning at Suite 202, Commerce Court, 50 Main Street.
Immigration, Population Growth and Skills Minister Gerry Byrne will be in Corner Brook today. He’s here for the official opening of the Trades NL Office for Indigenous and Northern Skilled Trades. The Minister will attend a ribbon cutting ceremony at Suite 202, Commerce Court, 50 Main Street, beginning at 10:00 a.m. This will be followed by a reception at the Grenfell Centre for Research and Innovation, 1 Mill Road, at 11:00 a.m. Minister Byrne will be joined by Trades NL Executive Director Darin King, Indigenous and community leaders, and other invited guests. This grand opening follows the February 16, 2023 announcement of the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador providing $910,649 to fund the expansion of the Office for Indigenous and Northern Skilled Trades to Corner Brook and St. John’s and maintain the existing office in Happy Valley-Goose Bay. This expansion enables the office to serve more status and non-status Indigenous peoples interested in seeking employment opportunities in skilled trades.
