Scott Janes says awareness is important as many Indigenous members may not know that this service exists.
NL Health Services for the Western Zone has a new Indigenous Patient Navigator. On Bayfm’s Qalipu today last week, Scott Janes says this is a new position catered to meeting some health care needs of Indigenous people. Janes’ office is located on the main floor of Corner Brook’s new Western Memorial Regional Hospital, which opened last June. He says awareness is important as many Indigenous members may not know that this service exists. Janes says one patient can take a lot of time depending on their needs, and services can also be available at other hospitals in NL. Janes says help is also available for family members of Indigenous patients. For more information go to qalipu.ca
