Forty-year-old Corey Benoit is facing multiple charges involving three stolen vehicles. First, on June 18th, the RNC in Labrador City almost caught him for stealing a vehicle but he left the jurisdiction before being apprehended. Two days later, Benoit was located at the Blanc Sablon ferry terminal. Police found two firearms and five swords. He was released from custody with a future court date. The next day, Benoit was arrested by Rocky Harbour RCMP after police received a report of theft of a different vehicle that occurred in St. Barbe. He appeared in court and was released on June 22. Then, sometime between the evening of June 23 and the morning of June 24th, Benoit stole a third vehicle from a home in Port Saunders. The next day, Deer Lake RCMP received a report of a dine and dash at White Bay Convenience on the Trans-Canada Highway. Benoit fled from the business into a wooded area. The stolen vehicle, which had run out of gas, was recovered parked from the parking lot of the business. RCMP Police Dog Services attended the scene. Benoit was located by Police Service Dog Thor and was taken into custody. He is facing five counts of vehicle theft among many other charges.
