The announcement was made Wednesday evening at The Rooms.
2024 will be known as the “Year of the Arts” in Newfoundland & Labrador. Premier Andrew Furey made the announcement last night at The Rooms in St. John’s. Another key component of the Year of the Arts is a one-time funding program for artists to support the generation and presentation of new work, innovation in artists’ practices, and collaborative projects.
Funding will begin in 2023 to maximize the number of projects that will be ready to share in 2024. Premier Furey says it will be a celebration of this province’s rich arts and cultural sector. He says there is so much talent in this province. Premier Furey says film making studios are choosing NL. He also announced the construction of a new mid-size theatre in St.John’s. As well, art galleries will be expanded at Arts and Culture Centres.
