With the expected growth in critical minerals, mining, and wind energy development across the province, Corner Brook has the potential to serve as a regional hub for cargo. That’s according to the CEO at the Port of Corner Brook Kelly Smith. Last week, a new liner service was launched to Canada’s north. Smith says there will be an increasing demand to move equipment, supplies and materials. She says they’ll be signing a Memorandum of Understanding within the coming weeks on this new service and they need the business community to use it. Smith says Corner Brook is strategically located for this new service and the need for a second berth is vital to continue growth at the port.
The Port of Corner Brook is expecting the last cruise ship visit next Friday. The MS Vista carrying over 2000 people is expected to arrive at 10:30 a.m and depart 6:30 that evening.
