New Water and Sewerage Regulations put in place this year in Corner Brook mean property owners needing installations can ask to repay costs through quarterly, interest-free payments. Councillor Donna Luther says repayment requests must be approved by Council. To streamline the process, staff are requesting delegated authority from Council to approve these repayment plans under a blanket approval framework. Approval would only be granted where the property owner is in good financial standing with the City across all properties owned and where the estimated installation cost is less than $30,000.
Assistant Director of Engineering, Aaron O’Brien says the focus is to support small business as well as residential. Council approved the new repayment options for water and sewer installations at this week’s public meeting.
