Marine Atlantic’s newest vessel is getting ready to sail to Canada. The crown corporation’s acceptance of delivery of the Île Rouge marks a significant milestone after months of planning.
Named after a small island located off the Port au Port peninsula it honours both the history and vibrant community of Franco-Newfoundlanders. The vessel can accommodate about 900 people and includes 146 passenger cabins (48 of which are pet-friendly), spacious lounges, and dining options. Once in North Sydney, the Île Rouge will undergo final preparations, employee training and familiarization activities before entering service later this Fall.
