New automated garbage collection in Corner Brook

    BayFM On-Demand

    Monday, 19 January 2026 - 14 minutes

It’s the first day for automated garbage collection in some areas of the city of Corner Brook. Residents need to keep about a metre clear around the bin to allow room for the arm of the truck to pick it up. Assistant Director of Engineering, Aaron O’Brien says it’s a new program and they will be "lenient" with people, and there are new drivers trained on the automated arms. He says they’ll be getting out of trucks to line up bins and the city recognizes this is new and will ensure people get help with collection. He speaks with Bay Fm's Lenny Benoit, listen to the full interview here.
