For 26 years now, volunteers have gathered at Westside Tabernacle in Corner Brook to prepare, cook and deliver dinners on Christmas Day. This year, the plan is for 500 meals. On Bayfm with Lenny Benoit, Pastor Jeremy Simms says registration has started and the need is great since about one third of the capacity for meals have now been spoken for. He says over a hundred people come together to put this off on Christmas day and they come from throughout the community, not just the church. Simms says there’s always an army of people and lots of joy in the building with over 30 teams of people doing deliveries. He says the grocery list is a big one, 225lbs of potatoes, 144lbs carrots, 240lbs turnip, 32 bags peas, 117 vacuumed packs salt meat, 256 bottle of water, and 179 boxes of chocolates.
