Each school will receive $1,000 to support their projects.

A couple of schools on the west coast are getting money to help create safe and inclusive learning environments for all students. This year, 11 schools throughout the province have been awarded Safe, Caring and Inclusive Schools Special Initiatives Grants. Elwood Elementary in Deer Lake will use the money for an outdoor play kitchen with sensory-friendly design. St. Michael’s Elementary in Stephenville Crossing plans on offering students a creative space to learn skills like sewing, knitting, and beading. Each school will receive $1,000 to support their projects.
