The town of Stephenville has lost a respected business leader, dedicated public servant and cherished member of the community…Councillor and former Mayor Tom O’Brien passed away yesterday. He was voted in to serve as a councillor for Stephenville during the municipal election on October 2nd. A letter was published on social media late yesterday afternoon by the recently elected Mayor Bob Byrnes highlighting Tom’s profound legacy. He says his “commitment to public service was matched only by his success as a businessman, where he brought integrity, vision and a deep sense of community to every endeavor.” Tom was a devoted husband to his wife Christine and a proud father to his daughters Natasha and Stephanie, and a loving grandfather. Byrnes says “Tom O’Brien leaves behind a town that is better because of his dedication, leadership and love. May his memory be a blessing and may he rest in peace.”
