Text message scam making the rounds here about a refund from motor registration

    The message instructs the recipient to click a link and reset their password in order to receive a refund related to vehicle registration.

    Government has issued an advisory about a motor registration text message scam and people should not click on any link provided. The text message instructs the recipient to click a link and reset their password in order to receive a refund related to vehicle registration. Government does not communicate information about vehicle registration through text message.

    People who receive the message should not click on any link provided or reset their password. They should delete the text message without responding, block the caller’s number, and report the message to local law enforcement.

    Recipients are also encouraged to forward the message to 7726. This will alert your cellular provider to open an investigation on the contents of the message.
