Something big is coming to the Deer Lake Regional Airport. The terminal and roadway is being expanded with construction set to start next year. This expansion will increase the size and functionality of key terminal areas, including the passenger hold room, check-in counters, pre-board screening, concessions and baggage make-up area. Last year, AVIA NG Airport Consultants completed a design and plan recommending the terminal be expanded by over 2000m². The Deer Lake Regional Airport (YDF) is the second busiest airport in the province. In 2023, the airport contributed $76 million in output, $42 million in GDP, 320 jobs, and $7.6 million in taxes to the provincial economy.
