People are being advised to stay away in an area of Link Pond located in Massey Drive. Town Manager Roger Hunt says this Goldfish Infestation surfaced last year and in December, DFO said it falls under their Invasive Species division but could not do anything until the pond thawed. Hunt says many people have fish ponds and they think they must have let fish loose in the pond for some reason. He says this can be disastrous since these fish will destroy all other species. Hunt says it will cost a significant amount of money to correct this problem since these fish reproduce so quickly. Goldfish have not yet been detected in Tippings Pond or Stratton Pond but all three ponds in Massey Drive are linked by brooks and eventually flow into the Humber River.
