The tenth annual “Smash Up for MS” will take place at a new location this year in Deer Lake just off Wellon Drive. Over $50K has been raised to date. Organizer Gavin Butt says in the past, the event was held in Gillams but this location is similar where spectators can look down in the pit and there is lots of parking. He says this year they’ve added something new; a fan night on Friday, July 5th from 6-8 p.m. at Bumper to Bumper. On Saturday, July 6th, the Deer Lake Municipal Police town police will escort cars to the pit. Tickets are $10 each but children under 5 are admitted for free. Off the Hook food truck will be there, as well as the local snowmobile club with a canteen, and a carnival set up with bouncy castles and snow cones, all with music by D. J. Hype.
