The Benoit’s Cove Indian Band will use their share for a land-based project to empower youth cultural teachings, survival skills and mentorship.
Three west coast groups are among 27 youth-serving organizations across NL have been approved for project funding through the Grants to Youth Organizations program. This year, a total of $276,500 in funding is going to support initiatives that empower and engage young people. The Benoit’s Cove Indian Band will use their share for a land-based project to empower youth cultural teachings, survival skills and mentorship. The Cape St. George Sports and Recreation Committee is getting funding for their “Generations Grow Together” Community Garden bringing together francophone, Indigenous and rural residents. As well, the Flat Bay Band will use the money for an initiative that provides hands-on life skills training to Indigenous youth as they transition to post-secondary life.
