Major Wheeler says locally, more than 6300 people had help with food assistance, emergency housing, clothing, transportation, support groups, Christmas assistance, and free income tax preparation.
With the opening of the Gingerbread House comes the launch of the annual Salvation Army Christmas Kettle campaign today. Major Brian Wheeler says it’s one of Canada’s largest and most recognizable charitable events with 2,000 kettle locations across the country, 6 of which are in Corner Brook and the Bay of Islands. Last year,, over 6300 people have received help locally from the Salvation Army.
Major Wheeler says this included help with food assistance, emergency housing, clothing, transportation, support groups, Christmas assistance, and free income tax preparation. He says the goal over the next five weeks is to raise $110,000.
Major Wheeler says the people in the Corner Brook and Bay of Islands have always come through for the Salvation Army.
