Sacred Heart Elementary in Curling prides itself as being a safe and caring school. Earlier this month, students and staff came together for a heartwarming project called, Spreading Kindness, One Heart at a Time!” Each student painted a wooden heart with their own unique touch, and attached them all to the school yard fence. Vice-principal Kimberly Pelley says they wanted to show the caring spirit that lives within this tiny school community. Pelley says they had some local help from Ian Locke, who cut out 178 hearts and the Paint Shop donated supplies. She says older students team up with younger ones in a buddy system.
Levi Porter is in Kindergarden and says he took part in this for the love and care of the school. He painted his purple and says they look good on the fence.
Brianna Murley is in Grade 6 and she helped two younger buddies with their hearts. She says it’s about kindness and everyone had a chance to participate in it, and had fun painting them
Meanwhile, Vice-Principal Pelley says they received a lot of positive feedback about the hearts and have decided this will now become a tradition at the school as new students enrol each year.
