Cst James Cadigan says police were called to the Bay of Islands community shortly after 9 a.m on Friday. The woman received non-life threatening physical injuries and the man was known to her. He had left the property by the time police arrived. Cadigan says the 42-year-old man was arrested nearby and has been charged with assault causing bodily harm and choking.
