Bay St. George RCMP were called out to a single-vehicle crash on Mississippi Drive around 10:45 Saturday night. The driver, a 19-year-old man, had fled on foot prior to police arrival.
RCMP throughout the province conducted traffic stops this past weekend and 6 people could be facing charges. Shortly after 7 o’clock Friday night Channel-Port aux Basques RCMP responded to an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) crash on a dirt road in Codroy. The operator, a 24-year-old man, showed signs of alcohol impairment. At the hospital, samples of the man’s blood were collected. Police are waiting for the results to determine if charges of impaired operation will be laid. Elsewhere on the west coast, Bay St. George RCMP were called out to a single-vehicle crash on Mississippi Drive around 10:45 Saturday night. The driver, a 19-year-old man, had fled on foot prior to police arrival. RCMP Police Service Dog Thor and his handler attended the area, conducted a track and located the driver hiding in a wooded area. The man was arrested and was transported to the detachment where he provided breath samples that were above the legal limit. He faces charges of impaired driving. The four other potentially impaired driving charges are from Musgrave Harbour, Happy Valley-Goose Bay, Whitbourne, and the Burin Peninsula.
