RCMP arrest two drug impaired drivers in less than 24 hours in Bay St. George

    One driver, a 37-year-old woman, was also handed a ticket for driving with a child not secured in a car seat.  

    RCMP Traffic Services West arrested two drug impaired drivers in the Stephenville area in less than a 24 hour period last week. Shortly after noon on October 2nd, 2025, a vehicle was stopped near Carolina Avenue because of an expired registration. The driver, a 37-year-old woman, performed poorly during a roadside test, provided blood samples at the hospital, and now police are waiting for the results. She was also handed a ticket for driving with a child not secured in a car seat.  

    Shortly before 9:00 a.m. the next day, RCMP stopped a vehicle on Route 460 near Brook Street, which was driving on the shoulder of the highway. The driver, a 52-year-old man, showed signs of drug impairment, performed poorly on a roadside test, and was taken to hospital where he provided blood samples. 

    Both drivers had their licenses suspended and vehicles seized by police.
