There have been 117 wildfires in NL so far this season.

A province-wide outdoor fire ban is now in place after a wildfire near Badger forced the evacuation of about 500 residents yesterday. Officials say it started Tuesday after a lightning strike and has burned hundreds of hectares. Badger residents were sent to the Joe Byrne area in Grand Falls-Windsor. Premier John Hogan says lessons were learned during the May 8th state of emergency and evacuation in Adam’s Cove on the east coast and it’s better to be safe. Forestry Minister says a high number of forest fires are caused by humans. There have been 117 wildfires in NL so far this season.
