Ray Brake says by allowing businesses to make quarterly tax payments and interest free, it will help them during leaner times.
The President of the Greater Corner Brook Board of Trade believes initiatives announced in this week’s budget will attract more business to the area. Ray Brake says by allowing businesses to make quarterly tax payments and interest free, it will help them during leaner times. He says tax bills can be large for some businesses, with some paying from thousands of dollars to tens of thousands.
Brake says these initiatives will help change how some entrepreneurs may view the city, having heard in the past that Corner Brook may not be the most business friendly city. He says this new council wants to increase the business diversity in the city. Businesses and residents with overdue taxes will also have the interest cut in half.
