According to Wakeham, the previous government chose to categorize the 2041 Churchill River Management Expert Panel Report as a cabinet document and that’s why it cannot be released to him.

Premier Tony Wakeham has written to former Premier Andrew Furey to get access to an expert panel report on the Churchill River. According to Wakeham, the previous government chose to categorize the 2041 Churchill River Management Expert Panel Report as a cabinet document and that’s why it cannot be released to him. He says with the advice of government officials, he understands that former Premier Furey has the authority to share it and that it is information that could be helpful for the upcoming independent review of the Churchill Falls MOU with Quebec. He says “The development of the Churchill River matters to all of us” and urged the former premier to provide his consent in a timely manner given ongoing negotiations with Hydro Quebec.
