Shelter in Place advisory in St. John's lifted, police remain in area

    The advisory covered Lemarchant Road, Lime Street, Livingstone Street, and Barters Hill, including Cabot Street, Barters Hill Place, and Stephen Place.

    UPDATE: 10:50 a.m.

    The shelter-in-place has been lifted. Police will remain in the area to continue to investigate the matter. Thank you for your cooperation, further information will follow once available.


    EARLIER STORY: A shelter-in-place order has been issued for the area that encompasses Lemarchant Road, Lime Street, Livingstone Street, and Barters Hill. This includes Cabot Street, Barters Hill Place, and Stephen Place.

    There is an increased police presence in this area.

    Residents are asked to remain indoors, with windows and doors closed and locked.

    Please do not share any information or photos of police in the area on social media.

    Updates will be provided as they become available.

     

    MEANWHILE, 
    Meanwhile, a 56-year-old man has been charged after Springdale RCMP advised residents of South Brook just before 5 p.m. yesterday to lock their doors and stay away from windows. Police say Gerard Fowlow is facing a number of firearms related charges and no injuries were reported although RCMP did get a number of calls about shots being fired. The shelter in place was listed at 11:45 last night.
